Exhibition History of John Brown

Previous to the year 2000 John Brown exhibited at a wide range of open exhibitions, including the Society of Portrait Sculptors, Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, and the Royal West of England Academy. Since then his work has been shown in galleries and at the major Art Fairs in London, New York, Hong Kong and the provinces

Biography / CV of John Brown

John Brown creates contemporary sculptures based on the simplified human figure, expressing emotions and relationships. These range from small maquettes (working models) to larger pieces for the home, garden or work environment. Themes very often run through a number of completed works giving a feeling of recognizable continuity to his sculpture. The sculptures are in stone or in limited editions in traditional foundry cast materials such as bronze or in cast resin metals, such as bronze, aluminium or iron. He created the BBC `People`s Award` Trophy in 2000 and his sculptures were present to Sir Magdi Yacoub, Judi Dench, Elton John and David Jason

John Brown`s sculpture is about human relationships and emotions, expressed in a simplified abstracted way, provoking thought and discussion, as well as visual impact. Themes very often run through a number of completed works, giving a feeling of recognizable continuity to his sculpture. His works range in size from those suitable for interiors to larger scale pieces made specially for the garden, patio or workplace

Influences / Inspiration of John Brown

John Brown`s sculpture was influenced initially by Howard Bate, RA a sculptor in the classical tradition, thence by the work of Henry Moore when he moved into abstraction of the human form
